About the University

Annamalai University is one of the largest unitary, teaching, and residential Universities in Southern Asia comprising of 10 Faculties and 49 departments of study. This University has played a pivotal role in providing access to higher education to thousands of youth cutting across the social spectrum, especially from economically and socially disadvantaged classes. In this respect, this University’s service to the nation is tremendous.

Annamalai University was established as per Annamalai University Act 1928 (Tamil Nadu Act 1 of 1929). One of the most significant developments is the enactment of the Annamalai University Act, 2013 (Tamil Nadu Act 20 of 2013), which has come into force from julyr 25, 2020. Annamalai University is accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC in 2014. “The NIRF-2018” by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has ranked the University in the band 101 -150 in the overall category as well as the University Category. In the Pharmacy Category the ranking is 20″‘ in India. In the Medical Category the ranking is 24th. “The Times Higher Education World University Ranking – 2019” has ranked Annamalai University in 1000+ for Overall category. In the Subject category Ranking, 2019, the University is ranked in the band of 501-600 for Life Sciences and Pre-clinical, clinical & Health Subjects. 800+ in the Physical Sciences subject. “The QS World University Ranking – 2019” has ranked Annamalai University in the band of 291 – 300 in Asia Ranking, 174 in the BRICS Ranking and 43 in India Ranking. “The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2018”, on scientific impact of universities and on universities’ involvement in scientific collaboration & scientific performance, has ranked the University at 20th based on the number of publications and 4th based on the proportion of publications that, compared with other publications in the same field and in the same year, belong to the top 10% most frequently cited. “The MDRA – India Today Ranking” (2018) has ranked Annamalai University IS”1 among the best Government Universities in India. Among the top 197 ranked institutions for Higher Education in India the “SCImago Institutional Ranking (2018)” has ranked Annamalai University as 7th in Tamil Nadu and 32nd in India.

About the Faculty:

The Faculty of Agriculture was started in the year 1958. The Faculty comprises nine departments and one division. The unique feature of this faculty is that it offers B.Sc. Hons in Agriculture and B.Sc. Hons in Horticulture programmes as under graduate courses, Besides these offer post-graduate and Ph.D programmes independently. The research grants obtained by the faculty from UGC, DST, DBT, ICAR, NMPB, Ministry of coal, Environment and Forest and Water Resources etc., added to an excellent infrastructural setup that facilitates cutting edge research in agriculture and horticulture. Teaching, Research and Extension activities, the three vital components for any agricultural institution, add significant value to the Faculty of Agriculture. The Faculty of Agriculture carries out extension activities like Agripreneurship Development Programme, Sustainable Livelihood Projects and Training Farmers in Integrated Farming.

About AIASA

AlASAis a professional organization of present and former students in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary, Dairy, Horticulture, Fisheries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, ABM and other allied sciences registered under Societies Registration Act 1860. The Association was formally launched on 10th May, 2011 by the then Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Agriculture during the All India Convention on Agricultural Administrative Reforms and the website was launched by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture on the occasion of 87lh ICAR Foundation Day on 25°,-26°’ July, 2015 at Patna, Bihar. The Society was registered on 1s1 Dec. 2011 under the Societies Registration Act 1860, with the approval of Ministry of Agriculture, ICAR and Ministry of Consumer Affairs with all India jurisdictions. AIASA envisions a common platform wherein farm technocrats and Bureaucrats will work together for the Indian agriculture with a “right person at right place” mode, to promote improved application of science which is often neglected in this sector. AIASA empowers and motivates youth to view agriculture as an equivalent career opportunity and thereby promoting knowledge transfer and agripreneurship in the country with the help of self driven and directed agrarian policy to the workforce.

About the Conference

Agriculture Contribute in improving the living standards of all, especially the poorest, in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable manner. The trends and challenges analysed here are cause for both hope and concern. The purpose of this international conference is to help mobilize the concrete and concerted action required to realize these global agendas. It contributes to a common understanding of the major long-term trends that will determine the future of food security, rural poverty, the efficiency of food systems and the sustainability and resilience of rural livelihoods

Invited lectures on the focal themes by lead scientists have been planned in addition to the contributed papers for oral and poster presentation in different sessions. Participants should send the abstract (not exceeding 300 words) and full paper must be in APAstyle (less than five pages) of their original research work in double line space (Times New Roman font 12) in A4 size paper (one side) to the organising secretary and send the soft copy to the email id: aufsrl 2020@gmail.com in Microsoft Word on or before 15.12.2019. Selected papers in the conference will be published as edited book with ISBN. Further, selected research papers with plagiarism free will be published in the UGC CARE listed journal on payment basis.

Awards: Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations. Registration

All participants are requested to send the attached registration form duly completed along with registration fee through a demand draft in favour of “The Registrar, Annamalai University. Payable at Annamalainagar” Cash payment may be made to the Organising Secretary in person. The delegates will be provided tea and working lunch during the conference days.

Student accommodation may be made at Rs. 300-500/- per day.
