The SPEC mode is a Special Channel of Admission for B.Tech programmes. This channel is aimed at identifying students with extraordinary talent or background.

The programme is designed to create innovators and researchers. Students are given a strong foundation in CSE that includes electronics and hardware. Computer science courses are introduced in the early semesters, and non-IT courses in the later stages. This allows students to master the subject and carry out projects in the related subject starting from the second year. IT Workshops are specially designed courses meant to impart mastery in the use of the latest software technologies by the third semester. The courses in mathematics, sciences, engineering and humanities enable students to explore the wider applications of information technology.

Students are introduced to core courses that include programming, data structures, linear algebra, probability and random processes.ECE courses like electronics, signals & systems, communications, VLSI, and embedded systems are introduced in the early semesters. Electronics Workshops are specially designed courses intended to give students hands-on experience in electronic circuit design in the third and fourth semesters. Advanced courses and electives in later years enable students to specialize in communications, signal processing, robotics, VLSI, embedded systems, and other streams.

Am I eligible ?
You are eligible if you have passed 12th class or equivalent with Maths, Physics and Chemistry and belong to one of the following categories:
Qualified for the UDAAN scheme of CBSE.
You are currently enrolled in an integrated, six-year, 12th + B.Tech programme (after the 10th class).
Applicants in this mode need to appear for a computer-based entrance examination conducted by IIIT-H. The exam will be held in multiple cities. (List of Centers). The exam will test you on subject proficiency.
* SUPR — Subject Proficiency for 60 minutes.
Date of the examination: To be announced. 26th April 2020
Candidates shortlisted from this exam will have to clear an interview conducted at IIIT Hyderabad to gain admission. The decision on final offer of admission is solely based on the interview performance.
Date of interviews: Last week of May
What do I need to do to apply?
You need to register online and fill an application form to appear for the exam by the announced deadline.
Application Fee : INR 750 (Non-refundable)
What can I expect in the exam ?
The exam will test you on Subject Proficiency (SUPR). The syllabus is based on XI and XII level of Physics/Maths/Chemistry (CBSE and most state syllabi).
