NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMMES 2020 – 2021 (July 2020 Session)

About the NIIT

NIT, Tiruchirappalli (formerly, REC Tiruchirappalli) started with three engineering branches, namely, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil. The three branches are represented (reading L to R) by the transmission tower, Archimedes lifting the earth with a lever, and a multi-storied structure.
 At the bottom of the Cog-Wheel is the Sanskrit phrase – Satyameva Jayate – meaning, Truth Alone Triumphs.
 The two lighted lamps on either side symbolize the light of knowledge and truth
 In the foreground are the major land marks of the city: the ‘Rockfort Temple’and the ‘Our Lady of Lourdes Church’.
 At the base of the Rockfort Temple is 1964, the year of establishment.

 The emblem is embellished with a circular band with the expansion of NIT on the upper arc and Tiruchirappalli, in the lower arc.
