ADMISSION NOTICE – 2012

National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology (NMIHACM) is a deemed to be University under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, located in the National Museum, New Delhi. The University offers courses in (i) History of Art, (ii) Conservation & Restoration of Works of Art and (iii) Museology, leading to the award of MA. and Ph.D. Degrees. It also awards eight Merit Scholarships each @ Rs. 40,000/- per annum and eight Merit-cum-Means Scholarships each @ Rs.12,000/-per annum.

Applications in prescribed form (to be downloaded from www.nmi.gov.in) are invited from eligible candidates for admission to Nl.A. courses for the academic session, 2012 as per the following eligibility criteria:

M.A. (History of Art) : Seats-25. A Graduate Degree from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks. Desirable – Background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.

M.A. (Conservation): Seats-15. AGraduate Degree with minimum 50% marks in any of the following subjects – Chemistry / Physics / Geology / Botany / Zoology / Computer Science / Fine Arts / History / History of Art / Architecture / Archaeology / Museology / Designing or a Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.

M.A. (Museology): Seats-15. B.A. / B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A. / B.Sc. / B.F.A. (3 years) with minimum 50% marks in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences / Science. Desirable – Background / PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum Studies.

Desirable Qualifications for Nl.A. courses:

Knowledge of one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian, etc.

Date of written and Interview test for Nl A courses:

MA (History of Art) : 11.06.2012 at 10.30 am

MA (Conservation) : 12.06.2012 at 10.30 am

MA (Museology) : 13.06.2012 at 10.30 am

All eligible candidates may please note the date / time for written test and interview. No separate letters in this regard will be sent.
