About the PONDICHERRY ENGINEERING COLLEGE

Pondicherry Engineering College is an Institution promoted and fully funded by the Government of Puducherry. The College was started in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan. It is an autonomous Institution for the purposes of administration, staff recruitment and College development and is managed by a Board of Governors. The College is affiliated to Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, for the academic purposes. The College has been growing from strength to strength since its inception. PEC is ranked 76 in Engineering Category by NIRF India Rankings 2020

Intake: 24 seats for NRI and 72 (15% of 480 seats on supernumerary basis as approved by AICTE) seats for FN/PIO/CIWGC.

Students sponsored by Indian Council for Cultural Relation (ICCR) or as Government of Indian nominee shall be included within the ceiling of 72 seats created on supernumerary basis.

Qualification:

Educational Qualification: A pass in H.Sc. (Academic) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination thereto, with a minimum of 45% marks (40% marks for OBC/BCM/MBC/EBC/BT/SC/ST candidates) in aggregates, in the prescribed subjects, namely, Mathematics, Physics, and any one of the following optional subjects: Chemistry/biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology (botany & Zoology).

Age Limit: Upper: 21 years as on 01.07.2020. Lower: Nil.

NRI candidates need not have JEE Score.

The Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries (CIWGC) shall be treated on par with the resident citizen of India. In addition to the above required educational qualifications they should have a valid JEE (Main) score card and shall pay the fee and other fees as prescribed below.

Passport number with validity/ Resident permit/ Registration and VISA details with validity as to be provided.

If more number of applications are received than the number of available seats, a merit list will be prepared based on the marks secured in XI examination.

On the date of provisional admission the entire prescribed fee should be paid immediately. In case if any candidate fails to fulfill the academic requirements, then the entire fee will be returned.

Fees Details:

For NRI, FN and PIO:

College tuition fee per annum – US$ 5000 (only in dollars and not in INR)
Other fees including exam fees – ₹.30,000/- (INR)

For CIWGC:

College tuition fee per annum – ₹. 1,50,000/- (payable in two equal instalments)
Refundable Caution Deposit – ₹. 11,000/-
Admission fees and University fee – ₹. 1,600/-

(Separate hostel for boys & girls is available inside the college campus)
