About the SHRI MATA VAISHNO DEVI UNIVERSITY

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was established through an Act of J&K Legislature in 1999 as an autonomous, fully residential and technical University of excellence. The University gets grant and continuing support from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra besides University Grants Commission and J&K State government. The University is recognized under section 2(f) and 12(B) of University Grants Commission, Govt. of India. The University has witnessed a remarkable growth and has transformed 370 acres of area in the lap   Trikuta hills, the abode of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, into a magnificent “Temple of Learning”. The University has the unique distinction of being inaugurated in 2004 by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (the then President of India). Outgoing students of the university have been privileged to be addressed by Dr. Manmohan Singh (the then Prime Minister of India), Dr. Narayan Murthy (Chairman Infosys), Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil (the then President of India), Mr. Hamid Ansari (the then Vice-President of India), Sh. Narendra Modi (The Prime Minister of India) and Shri Ram Nath Kovind (The President of India) in the convocations held in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018 respectively. The University has been ranked among Top 100 Engineering Institutions & Top 150 Universities in the Country by NIRF 2018, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. The University has four Faculties consisting of 15 Schools, which offer 06 Undergraduate, 10 Postgraduate and 08 Integrated Programs besides Ph.D. and Post Doctoral Research. The Academic System, Syllabi and Evaluation procedure has been adopted from premier institutions and universities including Indian Institute of Technology which promotes vigorous learning and transparent evaluation mechanism. The University has signed Memorandum of Understanding with various National and International Academic, Professional and Research institutes as well as industry to augment the learning process and to develop research and development infrastructure.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Under-Graduate Programs (B.Tech. & B.Arch.) For B.Tech.
a) Candidate applying for admission to B. Tech. program through JOSAA/CSAB 2020 must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2020 guidelines.
b) Candidates applying for admission to B.Tech./B.Arch. program through SMVDU Direct Counseling (Subject to availability of vacant seats) based on JEE(Main) 2020 Rank (CRL) must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2020 guidelines except that the minimum aggregate percentage obtained at 10+2 must be at-least 60% or equivalent CGPA
c) Candidates applying for admission through Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Entrance Examination-2020 (SMVDUEE-2020) must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

a. Only those candidates who have passed their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 or 2019; or those who are appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2020 are eligible to appear in
SMVDUEE 2020, irrespective of their age. Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2017 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in SMVDUEE – 2020. Date of birth, as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.
b. Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing SMVDUEE – 2020 (Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical
Vocational subject). The candidates who have taken less than five subjects in class 12th /qualifying exam are not permitted to write SMVDUEE-2020 and even if such candidates appear in SMVDUEE-2020, their provisional admission will be cancelled at any stage.
Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Class 12th /qualifying exam or equivalent CGPA and should be qualified in all the courses at 10+2 level. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) can also apply subject to condition mentioned in Section 5.2(b). For B.Arch.: a) Candidate applying for admission to B. Arch program through JOSAA/CSAB should satisfy the eligibility criteria as per JOSAA/CSAB 2020 guidelines and Council of Architecture (CoA) guidelines.
b) Candidates applying for admission to B.Arch. program through SMVDU Direct Counseling (Subject to availability of vacant seats) based on JEE (Main) 2020 Rank (CRL) (with Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing Test) must satisfy the eligibility criteria as per
JOSAA/CSAB 2020 guidelines except that the minimum aggregate percentage obtained at 10+2 must be at-least 50% or equivalent CGPA, further the candidate must have obtained at-least 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Further, candidates having valid NATA 2020 Score/Rank and having minimum aggregate percentage at 10+2 of at-least 50% or equivalent CGPA, and having obtained at-least 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematic will lso be eligible for applying for admission to B.Arch. program through SMVDU Direct Counseling, subject to availability of seats. However, preference will be given to candidates with valid JEE (Main) 2020 Rank (CRL) (with Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing Test). Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) can also apply subject to ondition mentioned in Section 5.2(b).

Candidates with a valid score in CAT 2019, MAT (Sept 2019, Dec 2019, Feb 2020, May 2020)/CMAT 2020 shall be given preference.
