Theatre workshop for young scholars

The Department of Theatre Arts, Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication, University of Hyderabad, in collaboration with the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR) and the Indian Society for Theatre Research (ISTR), will organise an international workshop on 'Theorizing Practice and Practicing Theory in Theatre' from January 30, 2011 to February 3^2011 at the University of Hyderabad for young research scholars and practitioners from the country and other parts of South Asia.

The workshop will be primarily focusing on giving an orientation to the participants on contemporary trends in theatre research and methods in the backdrop of ongoing trends in the area of theatre research- Internationally reputed academicians and scholars will be the resource persons for this workshop.

David Whitten (Lancaster University), Janelle Reinelt (University Of Warwick), Brian Singleton (Trinity College, Dublin) and Elaine Austin (Lancaster University) are some of the resource persons expected to take part in the workshop.

Young research scholars and young practitioners can apply to participate in the workshop. Applications can be downloaded from the University website www.uohyd.er-net.in under the 'events' icon. Further, the applicants are requested to send a sample write-up not exceeding 1,000 words on a topic of their choice concerning Theatre/ Performance studies. The topic can be on any issue or concern to contemporary theatre practice/research. The application along with the write-up should reach istrhyd@gmail.com on or before December 15, 2010.
