IIST Ph.D. Programme in Geology, English and Social Sciences - July 2011
Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) envisions the integration of Space Technology and Space Science educational programs with basic and applied research for meeting the national R&D requirements of science and technology in general and of the Indian Space Programme in particular. The institute provides a vibrant research atmosphere and offers doctoral and postdoctoral program mes.
Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for admission to the Ph.D Programme starting in July 2011, under IIST Fellowship (Fellowship of? 16,000/- or ? 18,000/- per month), in the areas of Geology (Petrology), English and Social Sciences.
Eligibility: • Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in the reievant area with first class or equivalent. Candidates with Master's Degree in basic science subjects and Humanities must be NET qualified (JRF) to be considered for the Ph.D programme. • Age Limit as on 04.07.2011:28 years. Age relaxation applicable as per Govt, of India Rules. • Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen. • Fellowship: The scholars selecled for IIST Ph.D programme will be initially given a fellowship of? 16,000/- or ? 18,000/- per month for the first two years based on the qualifications. The fellowship will be enhanced to ?18,000/- or ? 20,000/- respectively after two years based on a progress review. The scholars will be required to assist the Departments in academic activities as and when required. The scholars will have to pay tuition/registration fee and fee for boarding/lodging/medical faci I ities as per IIST rules.
Selection procedure: Selectio n will be based on a writte n test followed by an interview to be conducted during the 3" week of July 2011 in Thiruvananthapuram. Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route or actual fare (whichever is lower) for attending the test/interview.
