Qualifying Details
Individual awards are made in 13 categories which are biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer software, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, food technology, maritime technology, materials, mechanical engineering, pharmacology and physics. Each category has a prize of £500 and the overall winner receives an extra £1500. Students may only be entered by their lecturers, and students must have begun a first degree course in the UK. The judges will apply two criteria: the overall achievement in the project, and the ability to act as an ambassador for their discipline. The awards are presented at a gala dinner in the Guildhall, London in September.
