I am very much overwhelmed to write about my University. UAS, Bangalore established in 1963 spread over 1800 acres in the heart of the Bangalore. The campus covered with 90 percent of greener having almost all the south Indian species of trees. The campus where i am studying looks like heaven particularly in april and may because of gulmohar flowering. when it comes to research and education, it stands second in the country in the research and educations related to agricultural and allied sciences.

Nearly 5000 students are studying in the university in various departments. University is providing education with Academic Programs,

Under Graduate - B. Sc. (Agri) , B. Sc. (Ag. Maco.) , B. Tech. (Engg.)

Post Graduate - M. Sc. ? 23 Disciplines , Ph. D. ? 13 Disciplines.

The Master?s degree programmes are offered in 45 specialized areas in the faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences. These are offered in three campuses of the university, i.e., courses in Agriculture Sciences at GKVK campus; Veterinary Sciences; and Dairy Sciences at Hebbal campus and Fisheries Sciences at Mangalore campus. The residential requirement is 2 years for Master?s degree programme.

Research/Ph.D

The Doctoral degree are offered in 34 specialized areas in the faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences. These are offered in three campuses of the university, i.e., courses in Agriculture Sciences at GKVK campus; Veterinary Sciences; and Dairy Sciences at Hebbal campus and Fisheries Sciences at Mangalore campus. The residential requirement is 3 years for Ph.D program.

Training

Under ?Swavalambana? a scheme sponsored by the State Government of Karnataka a 12 weeks training programmes for Rural Youth are offered in the field of Dairy production, Poultry, Bakery, Mushroom production and Nursery rising and Management.

- The Staff Training Unit under the Directorate of Extension periodically conducts Training Course for the benefit of IAS Probationers, Officials of the State Government Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry. The UAS also continuously train its own staff engaged in Research and Extension on latest techniques and accomplishments in the field of Agriculture and allied subjects.

- The other wings of the Directorate of Extension, viz., Farmers Training Institute, Extension units and Krishi Vignana Kendras are also engaged in imparting training programmes of UAS, Bangalore.

The various departments of College of Agriculture, Bangalore, are engaged in conducting Summer Institutes / Refresher Courses for the benefit of staff of State Agricultural Universities.

Non-Degree Courses

The Bakery Training Unit, under the Directorate of Extension also conduct training courses14 weeks Certificate Course in Bakery Technology.

- 2 and 4 weeks Bakery product preparation course for commercial development and self-employment.

- One week course for selected professional.

- 3 days Home bakery course for women.

Correspondence course to literate farmers is offered in paddy and scientific cultivation of Mulberry and Silk Rearing Sericulture.
