USEFI and the Case School of Law, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S., have jointly established the Fulbright-Case Fellowships in Law. Under this program, fellowships will be awarded to two Indian law graduates, for a period of one academic year to do their LL.M. with a clinical focus on either Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) or Mediation/Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) at the Case School of Law.

The Case School of Law www.law.case.edu is a leading institution in legal education. It offers an LL.M. program for foreign lawyers in U.S. and Global Legal Studies. The Case School of Law is a center for scholarly research, informed and creative teaching, and service to the community and the society at large.

Program Content

The selected candidates would be part of the general LL.M. program at Case School of Law and special fellows in the School of Law Centers of Excellence. The Fulbright-Case Fellows would focus on one of two clinical contexts: intellectual property rights or mediation/alternative dispute resolution and will work closely with the directors and faculty of the Centers to which they are appointed. The Intellectual Property Rights Fellow would have a joint appointment in the Center for Law, Technology and the Arts and the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center. The Mediation Fellow would have a joint appointment in the Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Conflict Resolution and the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center.

Grant Benefits

The grant will provide a monthly stipend, health insurance, round-trip economy class air travel, modest allowances for settling-in, books and supplies, and tuition fees. No allowances are provided for dependents. The grant is not sufficient to support family members.

Eligibility Requirements

In addition to the General Prerequisites,, the applicant should:

* be a law graduate;

* have two or three years experience of working in an organization specifically in the area of intellectual property rights or mediation/alternative dispute resolution;

* enclose a writing sample in English a legal opinion, published article, or an essay on a legal topic of the applicant choice of no less than 300 words;

* submit three letters of recommendations which the recommenders must send directly to the Executive Director, USEFI, 12 Hailey Road, New Delhi 110 001; and

* give an undertaking to return to India on the completion of the fellowship.
