Applications are invited for RESEARCH SCHOLARS.

Indian Institute of Geomagnetism offers a Doctoral Programme In Geomagnetism and allied fields. Selected candidates may be required to do research work at Mumbai or at any other Centre of the Institute.

Scholarship : Rs.8000/- per month (consolidated) for First and Second years and Rs.9000/- per month in subsequent years. In addition, book grant of Rs.6000/- per annum is provided to the students registered for Ph.D.

Requirements : M.Sc. / M.Sc.(Tech) in Physics / Applied Physics / Geophysics / Applied Mathematics, with a minimum of 60% marks throughout and Physics as a subject in B.Sc.

Maximum Age : 28 years

Selection Criteria : There will be a written test at the Institute in Mumbai followed by personal interview. Candidates who have cleared the NET / SET / GATE / JRF of CSIR /UGC examination in 2002 / 2003 / 2004 in subject code - 2(Earth Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences) or subject code -5 (Physical Sciences) will be called directly for the interview. Candidates qualified in the above examinations should attach a photocopy of the examination result with their application.

To and fro II nd calss train fare by the shortest route will be paid to outstation candidates for attending the test / interview.

Interested candidates may apply on plain paper giving name, age, address and detailed academic record (10th Std, onwards) alongwith subject , percentage , university and year of passing, and attested copies of certificates / degrees, so as to reach the Registrar within one month of the publication of this advertisement.
