Admission Notice - The Institute With A Mission
IRMA's Mission is to promote sustainable, eco-friendly and equitable socio-economic development of rural people through professional management of their institutions. The core of IRMA's operating philosophy is to build and sustain a partnership between rural people and committed professional managers.IRMA promotes professional management of rural organisatioons through four inter-related activities of education,training,research and consultancy.Its faculty comprises experienced practitioners and academicians. IRMA uses state-of-the-art pedagogy,has modern IT infrastructure,internet connectivity in individual hostel rooms, a fully computerized library with over 40,000 books, 500 journals and periodicals, CD-Rom titles, Videos, microfiche and an excellent reprographic section.
Post - Graduate programme In Rural Management (PRM)
PRM is a two-year residential programme comprising four different segments - classroom, fieldwork, organisational exposure and management training. The programme leads to a Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural management(PGDRM), which is recognised as equivalent tomaster's degree by the Association of Indian Universitites(AIU) and is approved by the All india Council for Technical Education (AICTE)
Eligibility : Graduates with minimum of 15 years(10+2+3) of education and having 50% (45% for SC/ST) aggregate marks are eligible.Final year students who expect to meet the above criteria before June 06,2005 , can also apply.
Sponsored Candidates : IRMA encourages employees of co-operatives, NGO's / voluntary agencies, government rural development agencies and apex rural development-funding organisations designated by IRMA to apply as sponsored candidates. The sponsored candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline. They can complete the two years at a stretch or can opt for Certificate in Rural Management(CRM) at the end ofthe first year and rejoin PRM within three years to complete the two-year programme.
Scholarship :The Insitute offers AMUL-TATA Fellowships of Rs.1,00,000 each awarded based on merit-cum-means. A "SECTOR INCENTIVE SCHOLARSHIP" has been introduced of Rs.1,00,000 each which is paid after three years of serving an eligible designated organisation through campus placement. In addition, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai and Eklavya Foundation, Ahmedabad awards scholarships to meritorious students based on their performance in the first year.
Placement : IRMA has an excellent placement program.Its alumni are highly valued in local,national and international co-operatives, NGOs, development organisations and funding agencies. Placement program is however, not open to sponsored candidates.
Fellow Programme in Rural Management (FPRM)
The FPRM is a unique residential programme of normally three years duration. The programme comprises course work, a comprehensive examination, a research / teaching module, and a thesis.
Areas of Specialisation : (a) Management of Co-operatives (b) Agricultural / Rural marketing;(c) Rural economics and Natural Resources Management (d) Development Management (e) water and Irrigation Management and (f) Micro-finance.
Eligibility : Candidates with (i) PRM from IRMA or a two-year full time Post-Graduate Diploma in management from any recofnised Indian or Foreign University, with a Grade Point Average(GPA) of 2.60 out of 4.33 or its equivalent and minimum two years experience. OR (ii) One Year Programme (OYP) from IRMA with a GPA of 2.60 and minimum three years experience; OR (iii) Post-Graduate Degree inany discipline with 55% marks in aggregate (or a GPA of 2.60 out of 4.33 or its equivalent) from any recognised Indian or Foreign University and two years experience; OT (v) M.Phil in any discipline with 55% marks in aggregate ( or a GPA of 2.60 out of 4.33 or its equivalent) from any recofnised Indian or foreign university. Only full time work experience in managerial carde or research or consultancy or teaching at Degree / PG level will be considered towards experience.
Stipend : FPRM participants will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs.10,000/- for a maximum period of three years plus a contingency grant of rs.10,000/- per year for all the three years. Each participant would be expected to contribute as teaching and research assistant during second and third year.
Selection for PRM and FPRM : PRM and FPRM participants would be selected on the basis of a written test and an interview. The test will be conducted on December 05,2004(Sunday) at 25 test centres across India and the interviews will be held in February 2005 at IRMA, Anand. Candidates with IRMA's PRM applying for FPRM are exempted from the test.
