RECRUITMENT OF RESEARCH INTERNS AND JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS

The Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, accredited with ISO 9001 certification, is one of the premier reserch Institute of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and provides Research and Development as well as technical support to the downstream sector of the hydrocarbon industry. It develops and transfers technologies to industry in the area of petroleum refining, natural gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and utilisation of petroleum products, provides technical services and imparts training to the personnel of the related industry. The institute has qualified,experienced and dedicated staff of about 115 R&D Scientists supported by about 330 skilled Technical and Administrative personnel. The Institute has developed over 70 technologies and licensed 38 technologies with the cumulative capacity of about 28 million tonnes per annum. The Institute has the distinction of bagging eight CSIR Best Technology Awards, FICCI,ICMA and NRDC awards for its technologies. It is currently pursuing major R&D projects of national importance in the field of petroleum Refining, New Generation Fuels, Catalysis, Lubes and Additives, Organic Synthesis, Biotechnology, Engine Technology, Combustion and Tribology.

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals, young and qualified men/women who are creative and have a passion and desire to pursue Scientific Research under various scientifically exciting and national/important R&D programmes of the Institute.

RESEARCH INTERNS

CSIR Diamond Jubilee Research Intern awards scheme is meant to be a preparatory phase for young minds to imbibe the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques of research by working with experience and accomplished scientists.

Eligibility:

Ist class or equivalent GPA in B.Tech or equivalent Degree in Chemical Engg.,Mechanical Engg., Biotechnology/Biochemical Engg., Petroleum Technology and Petrochemical engg., / Technology OR

Ist Class or equivalent GPA in M.Sc., Degree in Chemistry (Physical, Organic/Analytical Chemistry)preferably with B.Sc., with Physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects.

Age Limit:

25 years (as on 31.10.2004)which is relaxable upto 5 years in cse of SC/ST, physically handicapped, OBCs and female candidates.

Fellowship:

Rs.7,500/- per month consolidated. No other allowances shall be payable to the Intern.

Tenure:

Maximum 2 years not extendable under any circumstances and subject to satisfactory performance to be reviewed every six months.

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS (JRFs):

Recruited JRFs will be required to register for their Ph.D Degree in any of the local Universities, subject to the fulfillment of their eligibility criteria.

Eligibility:

CSIR-NET qualified with M.Sc. Degree in Chemistry (Physical,Organic/Analytical Chemistry)preferable with B.Sc., with physics, Chemistry and Maths subjects

OR

GATE qualified with B.Tech or equivalent Degree in Chemical Engg. Mechanical Engg., Biotechnology/Biochemical Engg., Petroleum Technology and Petrochemical Engg./Technology.

(Note : Candidates who are starting the thesis semester of M.Tech/M.E.are eligible to apply, but candidates who have completed their M.Tech/M.E. degree are not eligible.)

Age Limit:

28 years (as on 31.10.2004) which is relaxable upto 5 years in case of SC/ST, physically handicapped, OBCs and female candidates.

Fellowship:

Rs.8000/- per month plus HRA (wherever admissible) and a yearly contingency grant of Rs.20,000/- After 2 years of JRFship candidate may be considered for SRF with emoluments of Rs.9000/- p.m.

Tenure:

5 years subject tosatisfactory performance on yearly basis.

RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATION: A limited number of Hostel accommodation for JRFs and Interns may be provided subject to availability.
